Position: Application Security Engineer
Location: Dallas, Texas, United States
Type: Contract
Closing Date: 2008-06-17
Project Name: Application Security Assessments
Duration: 1-3 months – varies per customer engagement, but we are looking for help through the end of the year (potential for full time hire upon completion of first project if desirable)
Location: anywhere in the US – resource will be expected to travel to customer locations as necessary to complete projects
Job Duties:
The resource will be working either independently or with current Client Security employees to perform Application Security Assessments for Client customers.
This person will be responsible for the following:
• Assessing organization’s web facing applications to identify and verify common application security vulnerabilities
• Utilizing commercial and open source vulnerability tools (IBM-Watchfire AppScan)
• Performing manual verification of vulnerabilities – reduction of false positives
• Creating assessments report
• Interfacing with customer personnel to gather information and investigate security controls
• Reporting to Client Technical Lead and Project Manager (weekly status reports)
• Executing projects using Client’s established methodology and documentation
JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:
Experience with AppScan Required
The candidate must be able to demonstrate:
• Experience performing similar work in the past year
• Demonstrated knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 Web App Vulnerabilities – ability to describe vulnerability and standard remediation activities
• Ability to perform manual verification techniques
• Software programming or development experience is big plus
• Competency with network security and information security concepts and technologies
• Prior experience working in an information security consulting role
• Good communication skills are necessary. The candidate Must be able to effectively communicate with the client:
o Must be able to work well with customers.
o Project Management experience is a plus
o Good writing and documentation skills
