Nmap Hackers: Announce: nmap-3.00+V-2.33

Announce: nmap-3.00+V-2.33

From: Jay Freeman \(saurik\) <saurik_at_saurik.com>
Date: Thu, 29 Aug 2002 03:41:49 -0500

Changelog:

o Fixed a small bug in the nmap-versions parser that forced regex
submatches even if they weren't neccessary.

o Added a few new scan entries after coming to the realization
that my file format is _so_ evil that, even after trying to walk
a few people through the process, I'm still the only one who can
(or at least is willing to spend^H^H^H^H^Hwaste the time to...)
  write new ones.

    - Canna
    - DNS
    - Go Text Protocol
    - Java RMI
    - MySQL
    - PostgreSQL 7.2
    - rsync
    - X11

Some people, when confronted with a problem, think ``I know, I'll
use regular expressions.'' Now they have two problems. -- jwz

FTP Information (for "released" versions):

Source: ftp://ftp.saurik.com/pub/nmap/nmap-3.00+V-2.33.tgz
Patch: ftp://ftp.saurik.com/pub/nmap/nmap+V-2.33
Win32 Binaries: not available for this release... sorry

CVS Information (for current versions):

Repository: :pserver:cvs_at_saurik.com:/cvs/nmap
Module: nmap
Password: cvs

Note to Hank: I got one of your e-mail messages (yes, my e-mail is flaky
and bounces a lot, hehe) just before I left on a vacation two weeks ago: put
off responding to it. Again (I know I've mentioned this before; even just
ran across an e-mail I sent you back in 2000 about this...), please check my
CVS server for the latest versions of my patch... you mentioned having to
mess with the new ports structure (and the requisite update to
getversports)... I had that merged into my CVS when I upgraded to
nmap-2.54b29 back last November (I just didn't bother with a "release")...
would have saved you a lot of time, if nothing else :-P.

Example Output (for the curious):

[root(2)@ironclad nmap-3.00+V]# ./nmap -sS -sVVV -F saurik.net

Starting nmap V. 3.00+V ( www.insecure.org/nmap/ )
